DID WINSTON CHURCHILL VISIT LEEDS DURING WW 11?

He did in 1950 ...at the opening of the election campaign. He was speaking outside the Town Hall to the thousands gathered in Victoria SquareFebruary 4th 1950There is a photo here http://www.topfoto.co.uk/gallery/Winsto ... efault.htm (about 14 down!)

Maybe I am wrong , but I seem to remember Seeing Winston Churchill in Leeds sometime during the war years 1939--45.In 1950 I was fighting in the Malayan jungle. Maybe something to do with the Ark Royal or the Spitfire Fund.It was a long time ago and my memory is probably at fault.

I did a bit of research as well and found that according to "Leeds...The Story of a City" by David Thornton, Winston Churchill visited Leeds in May 1942 and spoke to a crowd of some 25,000 from the steps of Leds Town Hall
