Can't you turn Long-Johns around and use the trap door at the back? [sorry, only joking, but I know exactly what you mean].Bruno wrote:Having had quite a busy late Christmas evening on the pop, following a day of abstinence due to to driving obligations, I have been reminded that it seems to be quite some time since I last owned a pair of underpants with an opening in the front.

Re: THINGS YOU DON'T SEE ANYMORE (Part 2)
When I was out a little earlier I happened to notice a small red berry on the ground. My immediate thought however was that it was a ladybird and I was surprised to see one at this time of year. On realising it was a red berry it then struck me that I don't recall seeing any ladybirds this year.

proper heavy road rollers instead we have silly little vibratory things which means a pot hole is replaced with a bump which disintagrates after a few months.

A couple on Boxing day morning walking round their neighbourhood wearing new identical fawn sheepskins .
(Quite a few were those man made fibre ones from Italy, Cheapskins I used to call them) usually sold in pub car parks or the like.

That's strange Leodian - I think they've all been up Queenswood Drive because all Autumn they've frequently appeared on the external window sills and balconies of the flats.Leodian wrote:When I was out a little earlier I happened to notice a small red berry on the ground. There's nothing like keeping the past alive - it makes us relieved to reflect that any bad times have gone, and happy to relive all the joyful and fascinating experiences of our own and other folks' earlier days.

From an old envelope.
The "BURTON" is embossed, extra work, extra cost, but it makes it look very posh.

Table legs covered in a long sock like device which I think uncovered, would be thought of as a bit rude way back in the 40's-50s! Those of us who were born then would be familiar with this. My Granny who was born in 1873 and all the legs on her table had these things on them as had another lady who lived nearby whose ornate table legs were covered in this way! Of course the Victorians were very prudish and ladies legs were never seen. So uncovered legs of any description were frowned upon.

Seeing how legs look on some women (and men wearing shorts) nowadays I think covering legs in public should be made the law!stutterdog wrote:Table legs covered in a long sock like device which I think uncovered, would be thought of as a bit rude way back in the 40's-50s!
