A few people have mentioned this pub which was next to the Gainsborough Cinema - on both the Lost Pubs and Lost Cinemas thread. I've just found this pic on Leodis which might stir some memories ( the Gainsborough Cinema is directly to the right of the pub - sadly you can only see a tiny bit of it)

Looks similar to the Eagle on North Street that pub in the picture. Wonder if there is any relationship betwen the two? Architechts or owners or something?

Could be, but I think the similarity is purely due to them being a similar age, at a guess. The Eagle, however, is three stories and has bay windows. Are they both early Victorian?

good to see the old pub thanks for the picture this is the pub i mentioned in my thread about my friend & her husband - marjorie & cyril rayner had it in the 60s
