Does anyone have a picture of the pub that was built in to the old Leeds Street flats at Hunslet. I don't recall what it was called but I remember you could see it from the number 10 bus on the way in to Leeds.

I think you mean "Leek Street flats"The pub was called the 'Pioneer' and you entered at your own peril...

my cousin once lived in the "leekies"...i went to see him there, that was a scary place. I felt more at ease running through quarry hill to get back to lincoln green than i did on the leekies.

Here's one that's been puzzling me for years! I used to go to the athletic institute in the mid 70's every Saturday morning for my Judo! (wouldn't do that again phew) If you went over some waste ground towards Hunslet i remember some old railway sidings with buffer stops there. It's going back years now & i can't really place it. Does anybody now if it was the remains of the Beeston-Hunslet N/East goods-Neville hill line or the sidings to what used to be a government cold storage place that used to be around there.

I just realise why my memory is so bad. It was 32yr ago! That makes me feel OLD. Ok i think Leek street flats was roughly where the circled cross was. Further down where the rail line is circled was Hunslet down yard (still there but disused) The siding seemed to come from where the road stone place is now. There were several private sidings & a Government cold storage siding that i'd like to know how far it went towards the flats, I've seen pics of from the mainline but not where it went to. Anyone know? (Sorry the image is small-It wont upload the big size)

Well thats the thing Martin. I was 7yrs old in 1975 & oh god Elvis, Ford Cortinas & long hair was the thing! It's hard to recall. The place has changed so much. All i can remember is there was some waste land to the right of Leak street flats on the google image above with some old sidings and buffer stops there! There was a fair few sidings coming away from the Hunslet down sidings. You can still see one in the image, It must have come from that way. The rest is a haze!
