My Brother in Law Frank who is sadly now suffering from a mild dementia is nearly 90 worked there and still lives opposite told me that, like quite a few Union run factories that the Foreman would give the best jobs to his Mates at times. I do know for a fact that quite a few Lads, including my Mate, would go in the Manston, now Barnbow, Pub just outside the gate and the Security men would not let them back in. If that had been a Private Co, those men would have got the Sack or at least suspended.
