No i dont think it will as it is to become the replacement route for buses that currently use Eastgate, well at least that was the plan. Here is a link to some renders for Victoriagate posted by "Shed 7" on Skyscrapercity Leedshttp://www.skyscrapercity.com/showpost.php?p=1 ... ount=5177I like the brick facade, which really helps to tie it in with the buildings on Vicar Lane.If only they had taken on teh stores fronting onto Vicar Lane opposite Victoria Quarter as well.

If so would it also mean that all the bays that have just been presumably rather expensively fitted out with cctv monitors would all have to be realigned too?

Well, believe it or not, the source of the George Street bus route was our very own Raveydavey in the very first post on this thread-"One interesting point is that Eastgate is proposed to be fully pedestrianised under the scheme (as is the whole development) with bus traffic diverted via George Street at the side of the market onto Vicar Lane (traffic currently flows the one way only here). Apparently the pedestrianisation is "flexible" to accomodate Metro's Next Generation Transport NGT (Supertram / monorail / trolley buses / flying pigs carrying baskets beneath them) if it ever gets off the ground."

aah right I was thinking buses travelling easterly but forgot about Westerly. Presumably East Gate would only be pedestrianised when/if the full original Victoriagate plan is implemented in a phaseII development to the north of eastgate. Were George Street to become the route for west bound buses I would suspect it means a reversal of the one way system as itwon't be wide enough to accommodate bus stops and a passing lane. The remainder of the east bound buses would presumably have to follow the revised route already followed by the 28, and others, of Vicar Lane, Kirkgate and York Street.

That wouldnt be such a bad thing as it would make Vicar Lane more pedestrian, and as a consequence, shopper friendly.

I wonder if this is indicative of the magnitude of prices that may be needed to cover the costs of the future tenants of the development -http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/n ... -1-6839256
