I'm gutted to see the Becketts Arms in Meanwood has been demolished. I left Leeds in 1976 and so much has gone, all my childhood memories. I only managed one or two visits to the Becketts Arms but I always expected it to be there when I came back. Boo Hoo

jo - have you seen the pics (they're on pages 1 and 2 of this enormous thread) I took of the Beckett's during demolition?

hi Skippy

i remember the Rising sun pub in Holbeck..on Domestic street..

Cinema was called the gainsborough..Dont remember the landlord though..

as you rightly say was right beside the cinema..only a little pub,we passed it on the way to the holbeck swimming baths..we were members of the swimming club there..

there was a pub..with a royal name near the swimming baths on holbeck lane..cant think of the name, but my sister met her future hubby in there on a christmas fuddle..

The Lord Nelson is still there , remarkably. I posted a pic of it on the 'pubs worth celebrating' thread a few weeks ago.

Good one of the malvern..dave..cheers

Remember it when it had its grand opening..

the brewery at the time said no riff raff would be allowed in,ir would be a friendley pub for the locals..

all that changed very quickly

Very sad in many ways..
